Just like enjoying a picture book, browsing through these collections of digital images is a great way to pass the time. Of course, if you are in a hurry and need to find images for a project, then you will want to move through the stock photo sites at a pace that is in keeping with your timetable. Here are a couple of hints on how to do just that.

First, take a look at how the site is set up. Some of the photo galleries online are structured with a menu that allows you to move directly into a section of the site that focuses on images that are of interest to you. In some cases, the menu offers only broad categories, such as " business" or "home and garden". However, some of the photo galleries will drill down a little more than that. Along with the main subject, there may be sub-categories that you can access, which will narrow the search even more. For example, under the broad category of "business", you may be able to choose from such business subjects as "office", "manufacturing", or "communications". When a photo site is set up in this manner, the search for the right images can be a snap.

However, if a site is not set up in this manner, there is always the search field to employ. Just about all stock photo sites have at least this feature. The search field will work just like the search criteria for the major search engines you use to move around the Internet. Simply enter keywords in brackets that will help get you to images that are relevant to what you need. If you get no results back, then try broadening the search a little. You should be able to come up with at least a few images that will work.

Searching through stock photo sites can be a lot of fun, whether doing so for fun or while working on a project. Make sure to check out several different sites, as there are literally millions of stock photos on the Internet today. Chances are you will find exactly what you want in a very short period of time.
